Visitors must enter through the hospital’s Main Entrance or the Pavilion entrance on Maple Street. Once you arrive, you’ll be issued a visitor badge specific to the patient or area you are visiting. Visiting hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visitors needing to enter the Medical Center between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. must enter and check in through the Emergency Department waiting room entrance and obtain a Visitor Pass. Permission to enter during non-visiting hours is only granted under specific circumstances and must be obtained in advance by the patient’s nurse.
St Joes Hospital Visiting Hours: Overview
We recognize the important role family and loved ones play in the healing process, and we encourage visitors to come when it’s best for their loved one. When visiting we ask:
That you respect patients’ preference regarding visitation
Limit visits during time of personal care and sensitive discussions
Accommodate visits to promote an environment that supports safety (this may include following infection control restrictions and protocols), rest and healing
Wash your hands before and after visiting
Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied and supervised by an adult
Respect patient privacy, including patients other than the one you’re visiting
Follow notification guidelines when department is secured
Limit visitors to 1 or 2 in our emergency services and intensive care departments
Respect patient and hospital property and not engage in any disruptive or threatening behavior
Honor restrictions when imposed
The hospital is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For the safety of patients and employees, public entry, exterior doors (except the north lobby) at St. Joseph are locked from 8:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. During this time, all visitors must enter and exit the building through the north lobby emergency department entrance and check in with security to receive a visitor badge.
St. Joseph General Visitor Guidelines
To protect our patients, we ask that if you have a fever, a cold, sore throat, or flu, please do not visit.
Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before and after entering a patient room.
The number of visitors at a patient’s bedside is limited to two at any time.
Children under the age of 16 are not allowed to visit patient care areas. (Children may wait with an adult in the first floor lobbies of the main hospital and patient pavilion, or in the cafes.)
Patients may be asleep at any time, so please be considerate and keep noise to a minimum.
Please respect the privacy of other patients and their guests while visiting.
Visitors may be requested to leave a room at the discretion of the nursing or medical staff.
Cell phones are allowed, however their usage may be restricted if noise, photo taking or other use impacts patient care or privacy.
Smoking and tobacco use is not permitted anywhere on the St. Joseph’s campus, including buildings, grounds, parking areas, and walkways.

Area Specific Visitor Guidelines
The following areas of the hospital have specific visitor guidelines due to the nature of their care:
Maternity – Brothers and sisters of the newborn are welcome to visit during Sibling Visiting Hours from 5 to 8 p.m., accompanied by an adult. Short visits are best for children. The number of visitors at the bedside in Maternity is limited to three people at any given time. Visitors must not have fever, cold, cold sores, diarrhea, vomiting, rash or skin sores. Important – Visitors who have been exposed to illnesses such as chickenpox or measles may not visit.
Neonatal Intensive Care – Parents are encouraged to visit often and designated grandparents may visit as well. Parents and visitors may be asked to leave during procedures, shift report, and physicians’ rounds.
Pediatrics – Parents or guardians may visit at any time. Shorter visits with friends and extended family are best for the pediatric patient. Visitors must be at least 16 years of age. One parent may stay in the room with the patient at night.
Intensive Care (ICU) – Visitors are permitted according to the patient’s condition and will be determined by the physician or nursing staff. The length and time of visits may be adjusted by the nurse caring for the patient.
