Neurology (from Greek: νεῦρον (neûron), “string, nerve” and the suffix -logia, “study of”) is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of all categories of conditions and disease involving the central and peripheral nervous systems (and their subdivisions, the autonomic and somatic nervous systems), including their coverings, blood vessels, and all effector tissue, such as muscle. Neurological practice relies heavily on the field of neuroscience, the scientific study of the nervous system.
A neurologist is a physician specializing in neurology and trained to investigate, or diagnose and treat neurological disorders. Neurologists may also be involved in clinical research, clinical trials, and basic or translational research. While neurology is a nonsurgical specialty, its corresponding surgical specialty is neurosurgery.
Significant overlap occurs between the fields of neurology and psychiatry, with the boundary between the two disciplines and the conditions they treat being somewhat nebulous.
Flora Clinic Neurologist – During a neurological examination, the neurologist reviews the patient’s health history with special attention to the current condition. The patient then takes a neurological exam. Typically, the exam tests mental status, function of the cranial nerves (including vision), strength, coordination, reflexes, and sensation. This information helps the neurologist determine whether the problem exists in the nervous system and the clinical localization. Localization of the pathology is the key process by which neurologists develop their differential diagnosis. Further tests may be needed to confirm a diagnosis and ultimately guide therapy and appropriate management.
Neurologists examine patients who are referred to them by other physicians in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Neurologists begin their interactions with patients by taking a comprehensive medical history, and then performing a physical examination focusing on evaluating the nervous system. Components of the neurological examination include assessment of the patient’s cognitive function, cranial nerves, motor strength, sensation, reflexes, coordination, and gait.
Flora Clinic Neurologist – In some instances, neurologists may order additional diagnostic tests as part of the evaluation. Commonly employed tests in neurology include imaging studies such as computed axial tomography (CAT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasound of major blood vessels of the head and neck. Neurophysiologic studies, including electroencephalography (EEG), needle electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction studies (NCSs) and evoked potentials are also commonly ordered. Neurologists frequently perform lumbar punctures to assess characteristics of a patient’s cerebrospinal fluid. Advances in genetic testing have made genetic testing an important tool in the classification of inherited neuromuscular disease and diagnosis of many other neurogenetic diseases. The role of genetic influences on the development of acquired neurologic diseases is an active area of research.

A review of Life Healthcare
Worst Customer Service I’ve Ever Had
On Sunday at 19:30, my wife Mochekwane Pula and I went to Flora Clinic; the nurse assigned us to the doctor, and we waited and waited till we complained about the terrible service.
On Monday morning, at 1:30 a.m., the doctor arrived to see my wife.
He did a blood test and concluded that my wife had a blood infection and that she should stay for additional treatment.
I persuaded my wife to stay and be treated, and she was referred to Doctor Tilly, who arrived and advised my wife to go for scanning and, if the results were negative, she would be permitted to go home on Tuesday.
My wife sat and waited for the results, which arrived around 16:00 on Tuesday, and were negative.
Doctor Tilly then informed my wife that his work was completed, but that he would recommend her to another doctor named Dr Manoussakis, who would arrive at 19:00 for a final check-up and present her with a medical note.
My wife and I waited for Dr. Manoussakis until 21:30, when we asked a nurse how far away he was, and she indicated he had already left the building.
We contacted a nurse named Dr Manoussakis for advice as we needed to go; Dr Manoussakis told we could leave but that we could contact him as an external client for a check-up and medical note.
That’s when the frustration set in because if we contacted him as an external customer, he would charge my wife a consultation fee, so we chose to contact Sister Coombs, who eventually led us to a Trauma Doctor only to give us a medical note and that was the end of it.
When we returned home, my wife was not given any medication.
Doctors, in my opinion, no longer care about their patients and are only concerned with making money.
ME AND MY WIFE ARE SO DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE AT FLORA CLINIC THAT WE WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.
WE HAVE NEVER RECEIVED WORSE SERVICE FROM A PRIVATE CLINIC OR HOSPITAL.
WE BEGGING YOU, HELLOPETER, TO INTERVENE AND ASSIST WITH THIS ESCALATION.
