Your knees are important to your ability to move around which is why it’s important to see a doctor when movement becomes painful or for a prolonged period, if you suffer with an injury, dislocation or even if your knees feel unstable.

Not all knee injuries require surgical intervention, but it is necessary to have the injury assessed and treated correctly.

Dr. P.H Laubscher (Orthopaedic Surgeon)

Arthroscopic & Open Surgery

The shoulder is a fascinating joint which is regarded as one of the most mobile joints in the human body. Due to its complex nature and functioning, the shoulder is often neglected and problems go undiagnosed or mismanaged. Sign and symptoms may be confusing and therefore put both patient and doctor in the dark as to the true cause of the problem.

Dr. P.H Laubscher (Orthopaedic Surgeon)

All examinations begin with a thorough history and systematically examination of the patient, all of which are crucial components in making the correct diagnosis. Special investigations such as MRI and Ultrasound scans play a crucial role in confirming a diagnosis.
Shoulder surgery may be performed both through open and arthroscopic techniques. The appropriate technique depends on the final diagnosis.

Dr Bothner Parklane Reviews – What People say

Dr Bothner delivered my son in March 2010. She was my first gynae ever and I refuse to see anyone else to date. When I suffered a miscarriage in 2014 she was as brilliant as ever helping me understand the whole situation. I am looking forward to going back to her because I may be preggies. Although I am on the other side of town I still refuse to see anyone else. Source

Netcare Excellent Experience

My wife delivered our first baby on Friday 31 May 2013 at Parklane Hospital. We were anxious as our baby was under weight (2.28kg) and we feared that something could be wrong. Delivery went smooth (Dr. Bothner & Dr. Lucic) and we felt a lot better after we found out nothing was wrong. I must applaud all the staff of Parklane Hospital for making our experience a happy one. One person in particular have been outstanding. Nurse Lindy Ntuli taught us how to take care of our baby. I do understand that it is her job to do that but being a HR Manager myself I do appreciate extraordinary staff a little more than the ordinary person. She persevered through all our feeding sessions until my wife was comfortable breastfeeding. She followed up on our baby’s progress even when she was not our allocated nurse. She guaranteed success in the beginning and achieved it in the end. We owe her a lot and my letter to you is only a small gesture but hopefully you can understand what her dedication has meant to us. I commend Parklane’s staff for excellent service and professionalism. We will be referring everyone we know. Many thanks. Source

You can also try DR K Bothner, don’t have her details on me at the moment, but she also came highly recommended. You could google her if you like, she is also at Parklane but she’s at Meredale on Fridays

Unfortunately, Dr Bothner is also very busy at times, it does get annoying at some point. Source

Dr Herman Nditsheni Netshidzivhani – a specialist who gave life

Among those who came to pay their respects at Netshidzivhani’s Johannesburg home this week were a number of children of friends and family who were delivered by him and Dr Brigit Bothner, Netshidzivhani’s wife and partner in his gynaecological practice.

In the early 1990s, Netshidzivhani was the registrar of the gynaecology department at the then Ga-Rankuwa Hospital (now Dr George Mukhari Hospital), and went on to work at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, where he met Bothner, who had come from her native Germany to train, and who he later married. Theirs was an enduring love story.

In a statement read out at his funeral in Tshakhuma yesterday, Bothner said Netshidzivhani was the “love of my life, my soul mate”. Source

Meet a media mogul in the making

The partnerships are key to the content of her magazines, too. In Mamas & Papas, her long-standing specialist columnists are Dr Herman Netshidzivhani and Dr Birgit Bothner, married paediatricians based at Park Lane Hospital. “Partnerships like this one are vital, because, at the end of the day, content is king,” says Mdluli. Missouri patients can now find out more about their Physician license lookup Missouri

Physician license lookup Missouri

Want to know where your doctors earned their degrees? Or how about which physicians are — or aren’t — certified by specialty boards for a medical expertise?

Find info and links to do Physician license lookup Missouri on bootom of page.

In Missouri that information has been, literally, a state secret. But a law that took effect last week puts it in the public domain.

Physician license lookup Missouri

That information, and more, is available from the agency that regulates doctors, the state Board of Professional Registration for the Healing Arts.

Because of the data release, Missouri patients are empowered to make more informed decisions about their health care, said Suzanne Henry, policy analyst at Consumers Union.

“By requiring the state to put this stuff up, it gives the patient a much better idea than if you just know this doctor is licensed,” Henry said.

John M. Huff, director of the Missouri Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration, called the law “a significant step toward better transparency for patients in Missouri.”

The law also requires regulators to post when a doctor has been disciplined by another Missouri agency or by regulators in other states, or has had a judge place limits on his or her ability to practice.

Greater transparency is one benefit of the new law, which was inspired by the 2010 Post-Dispatch series “Who Protects the Patients,” an investigation into the state’s lax and secretive system of doctor discipline.

The healing arts board will have greater authority to suspend the licenses of incompetent and impaired doctors by making it easier to prove that patients are at risk.

Missouri law already allows the board to immediately suspend dangerous doctors, but the Post-Dispatch investigation found it had not done so in at least 25 years.

The new law will allow the board to conduct a hearing if it believes a doctor is a threat to patients because of incompetency, mental illness or substance abuse.

The board could then order competency tests and discipline any doctor who fails to meet minimum standards.

Under the old law, the cases had to first be heard by the state administrative hearing commission, a process that could take several years.

While the new law provides patients with more information about doctors, Missouri still does not provide as much information about physicians as some other states.

For example, it does not give patients information about doctors’ malpractice histories.

DOCTORS’ EDUCATION – Physician license lookup Missouri

The data release allows for the first time an analysis of where Missouri doctors went to medical school.

Perhaps not surprisingly, more Missouri doctors trained at the University of Missouri-Columbia than any other medical school, the data show.

Next to the University of Missouri-Columbia, the state’s medical doctors most often graduated from St. Louis University, University of Missouri-Kansas City, University of Kansas and Washington University medical schools.

The state’s osteopathic physicians most often graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and from A.T. Still University in Kirksville, named after the doctor who founded the alternative branch of medicine there in 1874.

About 12 percent, or 1,548 of 13,078 medical doctors who practice in Missouri received their medical school diplomas in Columbia. The school graduates about 100 doctors each year and estimates that 45 percent will hang their shingles in Missouri.

“One of our missions is to train physicians for the state of Missouri,” said Weldon Webb, Physician license lookup Missouri – associate dean for rural health.

Most of the students admitted to Missouri’s medical school are state residents, which is a top factor in deciding where to set up practice, Webb said.

“If you recruit people from the areas you want to put workforce back into, there’s a better likelihood they’ll go back to that area,” he said.

Washington University is the top-ranked medical school in the state and is widely considered one of the top five nationwide. Among the 120 graduating medical students each year, about one-third are assigned to residency programs in Missouri hospitals, said Kathryn Diemer, assistant dean of career counseling.

Nearly 700 doctors practicing in Missouri graduated from medical school at Washington University.

“I don’t think that is an absolute goal of Washington University, (but) we certainly are happy to keep them here,” Diemer said.

Physician license lookup Missouri – About 74 percent of Missouri’s doctors report earning board certification in a specialty field, according to the Post-Dispatch’s analysis of the newly released data. Nationally, 85 percent of the country’s doctors are board-certified, according to the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Specialty certification indicates the doctor has completed advanced training and testing in a certain field beyond what is required for a medical license.

The most popular specialties in Missouri are internal medicine, family practice and pediatrics.

List of Doctors by Specialty

Here are the most common types of doctors – List of Doctors by Specialty.

Directory: List of Doctors by Specialty

There are nearly one million physicians practicing in the United States, and many different specialties and types of physician jobs. Physicians attend a four-year accredited medical school after completing college and then must go on to complete residency training, which takes between three and seven years, depending on the specialty.

Specialty (medicine)

A medical speciality is a branch of medical practice that is focused on a defined group of patients, diseases, skills, or philosophy. Examples include children (paediatrics), cancer (oncology), laboratory medicine (pathology), or primary care (family medicine). After completing medical school, physicians or surgeons usually further their medical education in a specific specialty of medicine by completing a multiple-year residency to become a medical specialist.
